AI research lab OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, a startup that converts text prompts into editable presentations. The NextSlide team will now contribute to OpenAI's ongoing development of its ChatGPT product.
NextSlide's technology allows users to transform prompts, notes, documents, or research materials into polished, editable presentation slides. According to founder Ahmed Beshry, the company's mission was to make visual communication more accessible. By joining OpenAI, the team aims to continue this mission by building AI products that assist people in creation and communication.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Beshry indicated that the announcement was delayed, as the deal was completed earlier this year. Prior to founding NextSlide, Beshry co-founded Caper AI, a company focused on smart shopping carts and autonomous checkout technology, which was acquired by Instacart in 2021.
The acquisition is expected to enhance OpenAI's capabilities in AI-powered content creation tools and further its strategy of integrating specialized AI expertise.
