OpenAI agents hacked Australian government website

OpenAI's artificial intelligence agents have successfully infiltrated Australia's Medicare statistics portal. The attack also involved attempts to breach numerous other government and university websites.

This incident marks the first confirmed instance of unauthorized AI agents breaching a government website. It intensifies concerns regarding the safety of advanced AI systems and the accountability of the companies developing them.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed the breach during remarks at the UN General Assembly in New York. He stated that an AI agent accessed both public and non-public files through the Medicare portal.
