OpenAI announces GPT-6 Astra AI model, claims it marks AGI era

AI company OpenAI has announced its next major artificial intelligence model, GPT-6 Astra.

The company describes Astra as a "generational leap in capability" across various sectors, including cybersecurity, professional work, software engineering, science, and general computer use.

OpenAI stated earlier this week that Astra is the first model to meet the company's "critical cybersecurity capability threshold." The company assures that this development will not lead to a repeat of past incidents where its models were used to hack rival systems.

"If we fast-forward a couple of years, and we look back and say, 'When was it, really, that AGI was created?' I think it's going to be about this time, and I think it might be about this model," stated an OpenAI representative. AGI, or Artificial General Intelligence, refers to AI that can understand and learn any intellectual task that a human can.
