AI firm OpenAI has made all three models in its GPT-5.6 series—Sol, Terra, and Luna—available to all users. Following the models' release, the company implemented adjustments to usage quotas and model performance based on early user feedback.

OpenAI reported that the GPT-5.6 launch resulted in unprecedented traffic, reaching approximately double its previous peak. To manage the surge, the company temporarily removed usage quota limits for ChatGPT Plus, Business, and Pro subscribers, which were previously reset every five hours. The duration of this temporary measure has not been specified.

Furthermore, OpenAI has deployed new inference optimizations for GPT-5.6 Sol, enhancing operational efficiency. These optimizations are expected to save computing resources, which will be passed on to subscribers as increased available quotas, estimated at around 10%. The company has also expanded the reach of its Banked Reset feature, allowing users to save quota resets for later use. This feature, initially exclusive to the desktop client, is now accessible via the web and mobile applications.

In a related development, competitor Anthropic has extended its promotional period for Claude Fable 5 amid increased competition. The offer, due to end on July 12, has been prolonged until July 19, allowing all paid Claude users continued access to Fable 5 under campaign terms.
