OpenAI Introduces Dedicated ChatGPT Mode for Teenagers
OpenAI is launching a dedicated ChatGPT mode for teenagers, consolidating existing youth safeguards and new safety features. This move addresses growing public concerns regarding AI's impact on younger users.

OpenAI has introduced a dedicated ChatGPT mode specifically designed for teenage users. This new mode integrates existing safeguards for young people with additional safety features under a single offering.
The launch arrives amid increasing public scrutiny over the effects of AI tools on younger demographics. Many other platforms have also recently implemented age verification measures and teen-specific protections.
According to OpenAI, the experience is intended "to help teens learn, think critically, deepen understanding, and use AI with confidence." The teen mode will be automatically applied to users who identify as being between 13 and 17 years old, as well as those the system estimates to be under 18.
This initiative aims to address concerns surrounding the safety and responsible use of artificial intelligence among the younger population. The company has not detailed whether this mode will include further content restrictions or functional differences compared to the adult version.
