The "ChatGPT for Small Businesses" initiative provides a range of resources, including virtual webinars, in-person training sessions, and interactive guides. The aim is to equip entrepreneurs, who often manage multiple business functions with limited resources, with AI tools to amplify their capacity and expertise.
The program places significant emphasis on ChatGPT Work, an agent recently introduced alongside the GPT-5.6 model. ChatGPT Work is engineered to assist with complex, multi-step tasks such as budget analysis, marketing material generation, and meeting preparation. Effective use of these capabilities requires granting the agent access to relevant reference materials like files, applications, and data.
OpenAI is facilitating learning through various channels. Product-specific webinars will offer demonstrations of use cases and automation techniques, complemented by Q&A panels with partners. Furthermore, the company is organizing physical training events in multiple cities, led by the OpenAI Academy. Several partners, including Dropbox, Shopify, and Intuit, are providing integrated tools and plugins tailored to streamline small business workflows.
This push to engage small businesses comes as OpenAI seeks to boost its revenue streams. Despite its substantial valuation, the company reportedly continues to incur losses, while competitors like Anthropic have announced profitability. While a large percentage of OpenAI's ChatGPT users do not pay for the service, the contribution from business customers to the company's revenue has reportedly doubled recently.
