OpenAI Launches Virtual Try-On Feature for ChatGPT

OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT's shopping capabilities by rolling out two new global features. The first new function allows users to virtually try on clothing and accessories, while the second introduces a save feature for users to store items they are interested in for later viewing.

The virtual try-on functionality is powered by OpenAI's recently released Images 2.5 model, which generates images with more natural lighting and richer textures, alongside improved stability and faster generation times. Users can upload a selfie or a full-body photo to see how a specific piece of clothing or accessory would look on them. A "try-on" button will appear on the shopping results page, or users can upload a product image for ChatGPT to simulate the try-on effect.

The new "save" feature enables users to collect discovered products within an in-app library for easy recall. OpenAI noted that these saved items will be stored alongside the virtual try-on images. Beyond these features, ChatGPT can also assist users in creating complete outfits based on described styles or identifying purchasable items from celebrity outfits.

These updates aim to enhance the online shopping experience by integrating AI into more practical and interactive use cases. The virtual try-on and saving features could potentially influence consumer behavior in e-commerce by offering a more personalized and efficient shopping journey.
