Altman detailed this progression as "models," "build," and "distribution." The initial phase centers on offering the most advanced AI models, providing developers with a powerful platform to create any product they can imagine. The company aims to deliver the optimal combination of intelligence and capability across all price points, facing competition from entities like Anthropic.

The second stage, "build," involves making the tools OpenAI uses internally available to developers. The release of cloud-based AI coding tools like Codex and new APIs is designed to facilitate the creation of intelligent agents and applications requiring rapid decision-making, positioning OpenAI as a one-stop shop for development needs.

OpenAI is also leveraging its substantial user base, with ChatGPT now exceeding 1.2 billion weekly active users. The company is enhancing its role as an intermediary, allowing enterprise clients to allocate some of their OpenAI spending towards purchasing partner products.
