OpenAI Releases New AI Model Astra
Technology company OpenAI has released its newest AI model, Astra, which it describes as its most capable and safest to date. The model is rolling out gradually to users and through various platforms.

Technology company OpenAI has unveiled its latest artificial intelligence model, named Astra. The company claims Astra is its most intelligent and safest model yet, representing a significant advancement in the pursuit of artificial general intelligence (AGI) – systems that can outperform humans in most economically valuable work.
OpenAI states that Astra was trained using enhanced pre-training techniques, reinforcement learning, and robust safety measures. According to benchmark tests reported by the company, Astra surpassed all other frontier models in evaluations covering computer use, software engineering, cybersecurity, and professional tasks. It achieved near-perfect scores on challenging reasoning tests.
The model is being made available to a select group of organizations starting Thursday, with wider access expected in the coming days for all ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users. It will also be accessible via the OpenAI API and Amazon Web Services. Enterprise administrators will need to enable Astra within their workspaces.
Astra demonstrates advanced capabilities in computer use, including form filling, data analysis, and research. It can also generate and host websites from text prompts. In software development, OpenAI asserts Astra is its best model to date, and in cybersecurity tests, it has shown proficiency in identifying and exploiting software vulnerabilities.
