AI research firm OpenAI has reportedly secured the final $20 billion installment of its latest funding round, according to recent reports. Nvidia and SoftBank are cited as having made significant contributions to this tranche.
This latest infusion of capital brings the total committed funding for this round to approximately $122 billion, valuing OpenAI at an estimated $852 billion. Amazon had previously committed $50 billion. Together, Nvidia, SoftBank, and Amazon account for roughly $110 billion, or about 90 percent, of the total funding.
The substantial capital raised is expected to bolster OpenAI's capabilities in developing advanced AI models, expanding its computing infrastructure, and growing its data center capacity. SoftBank's stake in OpenAI is now reportedly around 13 percent, following a total investment of approximately $64.6 billion from the firm.
