Artificial intelligence firm OpenAI has announced its new Decisions API, a product that reportedly offers similar functionality to the Jev model released by TypeSafe AI earlier this month.
Jev is designed for software automation and acts as a sophisticated classifier, capable of cheaply and rapidly outputting probabilities for predefined choices. OpenAI's Decisions API appears to follow a similar approach. At a recent event, CEO Sam Altman described the API as a method to provide the company's Luna model with a predetermined set of options from which to choose.
These options could include, for example, classifying images into different categories or selecting various agent behaviors. The new API may therefore assist OpenAI in managing more advanced, autonomously operating AI agents, ensuring more predictable performance.
