OPNsense 26.7 "Xenial Xenops" Strengthens Network Security Foundation
Deciso B.V. has released OPNsense 26.7 "Xenial Xenops," an update focusing on modernizing core architecture and enhancing network security services.

Deciso B.V., the company behind the open-source firewall platform OPNsense®, has announced the release of version 26.7, code-named "Xenial Xenops." This release continues OPNsense's iterative development philosophy, focusing on refining existing components and modernizing the core architecture to prepare for future capabilities.
The update introduces a new Interface Assignments framework, replacing the legacy module and establishing a foundation for future API-driven interface management. Outbound NAT has also been migrated to the new Source NAT architecture to create a more consistent management experience.
Networking services have seen enhancements, particularly for KEA DHCP users, with added support for Dynamic DNS (DDNS) and dynamic IPv6 prefix delegation. Under the hood, OPNsense 26.7 is powered by FreeBSD 15.1, improving long-term maintainability and creating opportunities for future innovations.
Deciso states that version 26.7 is a collaborative effort with the OPNsense community, contributors, and partners. The "Xenial Xenops" release is available immediately for download and upgrade from the official OPNsense website.
