Opodo outlines Lufthansa baggage policies for travelers
Opodo Deutschland has issued a summary of Lufthansa's baggage regulations to help passengers avoid additional fees and check-in complications.

Travel portal Opodo has published a guide detailing Lufthansa’s baggage policies, aiming to assist passengers in understanding current requirements for both carry-on and checked luggage. The summary highlights the importance of adhering to weight and size restrictions to avoid unexpected charges at the airport.
According to the details provided, baggage allowances vary based on ticket type. For checked luggage, the maximum dimensions allowed are 158 cm (total of length, width, and height), with a weight limit of 32 kg. Items exceeding these limits are subject to additional fees and may be classified as oversized baggage.
Opodo specifically warns passengers on Economy Light fares to manage their baggage allowance through Lufthansa’s online portal well in advance. Registering luggage online is consistently more cost-effective than adding it at the check-in desk, where fees are significantly higher. Once paid, baggage fees are generally non-refundable.
The airline also enforces strict prohibitions on specific items, including pressure containers, flammable materials, and suitcases with alarm devices. Travelers are advised to consult the airline’s official policy updates immediately before flying to ensure compliance.
