OPPO has introduced a new customization feature for its ColorOS 16 operating system, enabling users to personalize the design of the lock screen fingerprint icon. This functionality, available starting from system version 16.0.9.400, permits the free combination of various elements including Chinese characters, numbers, letters, emojis, and animations to create unique fingerprint patterns.

Users are required to update their ColorOS system to the specified version to access this feature. Those who have not yet received the update can apply for it through the system's 'early access' section. This addition offers a new layer of personalization for the device's security identification feature.

Previous updates to ColorOS 16 have also brought significant enhancements. A June update (version 16.0.9.400) included improvements to AI capabilities, such as updates to the 'AI Fluid Cloud' and new integrations with music and calendar applications. The 'Little Bu' AI assistant's capabilities were also expanded for tracking football matches, and new methods for device integration across ecosystems were introduced.

ColorOS 16 was officially launched in October 2025, with a core narrative focused on enhancing fluidity and developing AI to 'remember you and understand you.' The system's performance has been bolstered by new underlying technologies like the 'Aurora Engine,' 'Tidal Engine,' and 'Stellar Compiler.' The OS also features the 'Live Dynamic Depth Lock Screen' and improves inter-device connectivity with other platforms, including Apple devices.
