Opus One Gold Corp Resumes Drilling at Noyell Gold Project
Opus One Gold Corp has resumed drilling at its 100% owned Noyell gold project in Abitibi, Quebec. The program aims to expand the Zone 1 discovery and test new targets.
Opus One Gold Corp has recommenced drilling operations at its wholly owned Noyell gold project, located in the Abitibi mining district of Quebec. The company announced on January 21, 2026, that two drill rigs have been mobilized to the site. The program is designed to extend the known Zone 1 gold discovery and explore new potential mineralized zones.
The drilling campaign is expected to comprise approximately 26 holes, totaling around 14,000 meters of core. The primary objective is to infill and expand the identified Zone 1 deposit in all directions. Additionally, the company plans to investigate an area approximately 3 kilometers west of Zone 1, where previous operators reported significant gold mineralization in the 1980s and 1990s. This new target area is geologically situated within the same gold-bearing structure that hosts Zone 1.
Interpretations suggest that the western portion of the property, where new drilling will occur, corresponds to the same geological structure hosting gold mineralization at Zone 1. Five shallow holes are planned for this new area, marking Opus One's initial drilling efforts there. Similar gold occurrences are being actively explored on an adjacent property where a substantial drilling program is underway. Opus One may deploy a third drill rig in February if deemed necessary to complete the program.
CEO Louis Morin expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming program, which follows a successful 2025 drilling campaign that covered 9,000 meters at Zone 1. That campaign also included studies to characterize the mineralized horizon. The 2026 objectives include expanding the main mineralized zone, initiating mineralogical characterization of the gold-bearing structure, and seeking new discoveries along the same and potentially parallel structural trends.
