Opus One Winemaker Michael Silacci to Retire After 2026 Harvest

Napa Valley's Opus One Winery has announced that its long-serving Winemaker, Michael Silacci, will retire after the 2026 harvest concludes. Silacci joined the winery in 2001 and became its sole winemaker in 2003.

During his 25-year tenure, Silacci has guided Opus One's winemaking, emphasizing the estate's distinct expression and uncompromising quality. His leadership saw vineyard replantings, the adoption of regenerative farming practices, and efforts to protect land along the Napa River, all contributing to the quality of the wines.

"Michael's contributions to Opus One are profound and enduring, and we thank him for his years of dedication," said Chris Lynch, Opus One CEO. "His devotion to the terroir of the Estate, his ability to integrate innovation with tradition, and his leadership across our vineyards and cellar have guided the winery to new heights."

The winery will commence a search for his successor in early 2027, with Silacci remaining involved to ensure a smooth transition before his retirement.
