Oracle adds SambaNova SN50 RDU chips to OCI cloud services
Oracle has integrated SambaNova’s SN50 RDU artificial intelligence inference chips into its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) platform.
Oracle continues to broaden its AI hardware portfolio by adding SambaNova’s SN50 Reconfigurable Dataflow Unit (RDU) to its cloud services. This integration allows Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) customers to access specialized hardware for AI inference tasks, moving beyond traditional GPU-focused architectures.
This move aligns with Oracle's strategy to diversify its cloud compute offerings. The company is actively building a multi-vendor ecosystem that currently includes hardware from Nvidia and AMD. Furthermore, Oracle has integrated Positron’s Atlas chips and is preparing to become the first external hyperscaler to host Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs).
The expansion strategy also encompasses upcoming partnerships with Cerebras, integrating their wafer-scale technology, and support for Intel’s 'Diamond Rapids' Xeon processors in future OCI X14 product lines. By offering a variety of specialized chip architectures, Oracle aims to accommodate diverse customer requirements for AI training and inference workloads.
