Oracle Japan Shares Rise 7% Following Record Q1 Results

Oracle Japan saw its stock price climb more than 7% on the Tokyo Stock Exchange after reporting its fiscal first-quarter earnings. This surge happened even as Oracle's U.S.-listed parent company experienced a decline of over 3% overnight, partly due to issues with a large data center project.

For the period from June to August, Oracle Japan's net sales increased by 13% to 74.9 billion yen (approximately $473 million). Operating profit saw a substantial rise of 22.7%, reaching 25.9 billion yen ($164 million), while net profit climbed 23.2% to 18.3 billion yen ($115 million).

The company's cloud revenue demonstrated strong growth, up 31.7% to 25.1 billion yen ($159 million). This performance boosted the cloud segment's share of total sales to 33.6%, up from 28.8% in the previous period. Oracle Japan attributed this growth to high demand for cloud infrastructure and increased utilization of its Tokyo and Osaka data centers.

Oracle Japan maintained its full-year sales growth forecast of 6% to 10%. The company's strategic investments in cloud and AI infrastructure in Japan, amounting to over $8 billion over a decade, are expected to support continued expansion. Partnerships with other Japanese technology firms, such as SoftBank, further solidify its market position.

The company's performance highlights the growing importance of cloud services in the Japanese market and Oracle's strategy to capitalize on this trend through infrastructure development and strategic alliances.
