Orbius Extends Edge Cloud and AI to Remote Operations via Satellite
Orbius Communications has launched a new edge cloud solution integrating its StarEDGE platform with Armada's infrastructure. This combination provides satellite connectivity and edge computing for AI in remote locations.

Orbius Communications, which combines satellite, terrestrial, and cloud networks, has announced a new edge cloud solution. The offering integrates its StarEDGE platform with Armada's edge computing infrastructure, merging connectivity via multiple Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations with end-to-end processing capabilities for artificial intelligence (AI) at the edge.
This unified solution allows businesses and public sector entities to deploy AI outside of centralized cloud environments. By leveraging Orbius's Private Network Interconnect (PNI) network, data traffic is routed through a secure, private infrastructure to regional data centers, bypassing the public internet. This approach aims to maintain data sovereignty and security from the satellite link to the edge workload.
The edge computing sector is experiencing rapid growth, with global spending projected to nearly triple by 2031. For industries operating in isolated or regulated environments, such as maritime, energy, and mining, this integrated edge computing power paired with reliable Multi-LEO connectivity offers a strategic advantage for AI deployment.
Orbius states that the solution significantly reduces deployment time compared to traditional data centers, offering a robust, modular, and transportable infrastructure designed for remote conditions. The company highlights benefits including rapid operational value, on-site data processing to meet compliance, scalability, and a single point of contact for both network and computing services.
