Orbius integrates edge computing and satellite connectivity for AI

Orbius Communications has introduced a new edge computing solution that integrates its StarEDGE platform with Armada's infrastructure. This combined offering brings artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities directly to where data is generated, eliminating the need for processing in centralized cloud facilities.

The new solution pairs Orbius's Multi-LEO satellite connectivity networks with Armada's modular data centers. It enables real-time AI and data processing in remote areas, including maritime, energy, and telecommunications sectors. This provides a significant advantage for companies operating in challenging environments requiring rapid decision-making.

Orbius states the solution ensures data sovereignty by utilizing its Private Network Interconnection (PNI) network. This secure network directs customer traffic directly to regional data centers, bypassing the public internet and keeping data within a protected infrastructure from satellite link to edge computing.

Halldor Sigurdsson, CEO of Orbius, highlighted the solution's impact. "Many critical workloads in remote locations have been limited by a lack of connectivity and real-time compute capacity. That era is ending," Sigurdsson said. By combining the StarEDGE Multi-LEO platform with Armada's solutions, remote operations are no longer a constraint."
