Organizations Favor Unified Security Platforms in Multicloud Environments
A new report indicates a majority of organizations would opt for a unified security platform over scattered tools when modernizing security architecture for multicloud environments. This shift is changing how cloud security providers are evaluated.
As multicloud environments become more prevalent, organizations are increasingly favoring unified security platforms over fragmented solutions when updating their security architecture. According to the 2026 Fortinet Cloud Security Report, 64 percent of organizations would choose a single, integrated platform encompassing cloud, network, and application security if rebuilding their strategy today, compared to those preferring separate, best-of-breed tools.
The report also found that 88 percent of companies now operate across hybrid or multicloud environments. Technology and cloud advisory firm Bluewave assists organizations in modernizing their security architecture within these complex setups.
Growing complexity in cloud environments has made managing security with disconnected, cloud-specific tools a significant challenge. The report highlights that 66 percent of organizations lack strong confidence in their ability to detect and respond to cloud threats in real time. When evaluating unified platforms, organizations prioritize comprehensive coverage across different cloud environments (79%) and seamless integration across security domains (72%) over factors like cost or ease of use.
