OSCP Unveils Photonic Inertial Measurement Unit at Silicon Valley Space Week
Montreal-based OSCP has introduced the MK2Z-3, a photonic inertial measurement unit featuring three-axis gyroscopic sensors, scheduled for sampling in 2027.

OSCP presented its new MK2Z-3 inertial measurement unit (IMU) during the Silicon Valley Space Week. The device utilizes photonic technology to measure motion, housing up to three gyroscopic axes within a single enclosure weighing under one kilogram.
The company aims to achieve a performance threshold of 0.01°/h for the system. By leveraging photonic integration, the hardware intends to reduce the physical footprint of high-precision navigation sensors, a segment traditionally dominated by larger, mechanical or fiber-optic systems.
The transition to photonic-based sensing represents a shift toward more compact aerospace equipment. OSCP has scheduled the release of initial product samples for 2027, marking the next phase in the product's development cycle.
