Osteopathy Association BVO Welcomes Discussion on Patient Safety
The German osteopathy association BVO supports a discussion initiated by physicians regarding patient safety and training standards in osteopathy, emphasizing the need for professional legislation.

The German osteopathy association Bundesverband Osteopathie e.V. (BVO) has welcomed a discussion initiated by physicians concerning patient safety and osteopathic treatment.
Dr. Max Kaplan, President of the Bavarian State Medical Association, raised the issue prior to a state medical conference in Rosenheim. While not agreeing with all points, the BVO sees the initiative as a positive step towards ensuring high standards in osteopathy.
The BVO emphasizes that patient safety is paramount and believes that a clear, national professional law for osteopathy is necessary to guarantee consistent quality in training and practice. Currently, regulations vary by state, and a unified, state-recognized training system is lacking for the approximately 10,000 osteopaths in Germany.
Georg Schöner, 1st Chairman of the BVO, stated that a professional law with central educational and training regulations is a crucial step. The association is actively working towards this goal and has invited Dr. Kaplan to discuss his views further.
