Othram Acquires Sorenson Forensics to Enhance Investigations

Othram has acquired Sorenson Forensics, bringing together evidence assessment, biological screening, traditional forensic DNA testing, and Othram's forensic genomics and genetic genealogy capabilities under common ownership.

The integration aims to allow agencies to develop coordinated testing strategies from the outset of an investigation. This approach considers both immediate needs and potential future testing, such as single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis and forensic genetic genealogy, which is particularly beneficial when dealing with limited evidence.

Sorenson Forensics will maintain its location in Draper, Utah, and continue operating with its existing team, accreditations, and licensing. Its established expertise in biological screening, traditional forensic DNA analysis, case consultation, and expert testimony expands Othram's support for ongoing and cold cases.

Othram has previously partnered with law enforcement agencies to apply forensic genetic genealogy in thousands of investigations, including those involving unidentified human remains, missing persons, and violent crimes. The addition of Sorenson Forensics extends this support to earlier stages of evidence assessment and testing.
