Outokumpu Combines Europe Stainless Steel and Advanced Materials Under New Leadership
Outokumpu has appointed Matthieu Jehl as President, Business Area Europe, effective August 1, 2026. The company is combining its Stainless Europe and Advanced Materials business lines under a new unified European leadership structure.

Steel manufacturer Outokumpu is reorganizing its European operations by consolidating its Stainless Europe and Advanced Materials business units under a single leadership structure. The change will take effect on August 1, 2026.
Matthieu Jehl has been appointed as the new President of Business Area Europe. Jehl will also continue to serve as a member of Outokumpu's Leadership Team, which he joined in 2025. He most recently held the position of President for the Stainless Europe business line. This new structure is intended to support the next phase of the company's EVOLVE strategy and to drive growth ambitions within its advanced materials segment.
As part of this reorganization, Rolf Schencking, President of the Advanced Materials business line, will be leaving the company. The organizational change will centralize two commercial organizations under the new Business Area Europe leadership. According to Outokumpu, the revised structure is designed to enhance customer focus, improve strategic alignment, and support more effective execution of growth initiatives.
Outokumpu anticipates this consolidation will bolster operational efficiency in its core stainless steel business and accelerate growth in higher-value alloys within the advanced materials division. CEO Kati ter Horst stated that Jehl's extensive experience in the steel industry and market knowledge are crucial for advancing Europe's competitive edge.
