Outokumpu launches calculator for pressure vessel material consumption
Steel company Outokumpu Oyj has launched a new online tool to help estimate material requirements for pressure vessels and compare the impact of different steel grades.

Helsinki – Steel company Outokumpu Oyj has introduced a web-based calculator designed to assist customers in estimating the required plate thickness and material consumption for pressure vessel fabrication.
The tool aims to help designers and manufacturers select appropriate stainless steel grades and understand how different materials influence final material needs and costs for the cylindrical shell of a pressure vessel.
The calculator allows for the comparison of material consumption for up to three different products simultaneously. It focuses solely on the cylindrical shell component of the pressure vessel and considers only internal pressure, excluding any openings or other load actions.
Outokumpu emphasizes that the information provided by the calculator is for general purposes only and does not constitute professional advice or recommendation. The company disclaims any liability or warranty related to the tool's calculations or their use.
