Steel company Outokumpu Oyj has released an official Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its cold-rolled stainless steel products.
The declaration, prepared according to international standards ISO 14025 and EN 15804, provides detailed information on the environmental impacts of the products based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The EPD pertains to one ton of cold-rolled stainless steel and covers production from several of Outokumpu's manufacturing plants in Germany, Sweden, and Finland.
The products are widely used in the construction industry for applications such as building envelopes, interior cladding, HVAC systems, and elevators. Cold-rolled steel offers precise dimensional tolerances and high surface quality, available in various widths, thicknesses, and finishes.
The Environmental Product Declaration is valid until March 2019. It has undergone external verification and is based on 2011 production data. This release is part of Outokumpu's commitment to transparency and promoting sustainable development within the metals industry.
