Outokumpu Publishes Insights on Industrial Evolution

Steel company Outokumpu has released a collection of analyses and insights focusing on industrial development and the construction of a sustainable future. The "Industrial Evolution Insights" series aims to provide perspectives on global trends, tools, and innovations shaping various industries.

A key theme discussed is the importance of sustainable and resilient supply chains. Heidi Peltonen, Outokumpu's Vice President of Sustainability, highlights that transparency extends beyond mere reporting for companies reliant on critical minerals, underscoring the need for accountability throughout the value chain.

The company also addresses the implications of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in Europe. Matthieu Jehl, President of Business Line Stainless Europe, explains how the CBAM regulation, effective from October 2023 for reporting and full implementation from 2026, will impact the import of steel products by requiring importers to account for embedded emissions.
