Outokumpu supplies stainless steel for Sagrada Família construction
Since 2013, Outokumpu has been the primary supplier of stainless steel for the ongoing construction of the Sagrada Família basilica in Barcelona.

Finnish stainless steel producer Outokumpu has been providing specialized steel products, including rebar, bars, and machined components, for the Sagrada Família basilica since 2013. These materials are primarily integrated into the structure of the basilica’s 18 towers, which range in height from 94 to 182 meters.
Stainless steel was specified for the project due to its corrosion resistance and structural strength, essential for minimizing long-term maintenance in a demanding urban environment. Given the high volume of visitors to the UNESCO World Heritage site, the project requires strict logistical management, with Outokumpu coordinating deliveries to align with the basilica's construction schedule.
Project representatives noted that the cooperation involves ongoing technical consultation regarding structural integrity and material performance. The basilica’s construction, which began in 1882, is currently scheduled to reach completion in 2026.
