Outokumpu Technology to Supply Silver Refinery to Krasnoyarsk
Outokumpu Technology has signed an agreement with Russia's JSC Krasnoyarsk Non-Ferrous Metals Plant to deliver a silver refining facility. The plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2007.
Outokumpu Technology, part of Metso Oyj, has agreed to supply a silver refining plant to JSC Krasnoyarsk Non-Ferrous Metals Plant (KNFMP) in Siberia. The contract covers the design and delivery of core equipment for the facility.
The new plant is scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2007. Its development is expected to solidify KNFMP's position as a major producer of platinum group metals. This agreement represents a significant expansion of Outokumpu's global reach in metallurgical processing technologies.
Igor Tikhov, director at KNFMP, stated that selecting modern technology enhances the company's standing as a precious metals producer. He noted KNFMP's familiarity with similar plants previously supplied by Outokumpu Technology to various countries.
Björn Ludvigsson, deputy director of Outokumpu Technology AB, highlighted that the project further strengthens their market leadership in precious metal technologies. He indicated that five of the world's top ten silver producers currently utilize Outokumpu Technology's processes.
