Steel producer Ovako has formalized its commitment to a decarbonized future through its "The Ovako Way" initiative. This strategy aims to unite the company's values and actions in the creation of steel for a low-carbon society.

Ovako emphasizes the vital role of steel in global infrastructure and the responsibility to produce it sustainably. The company views decarbonization not merely as an environmental necessity but also as a driver for profitability, employer attractiveness, and capturing significant market opportunities.

To embed these principles, Ovako launched an internal "The Ovako Way Challenge," engaging over 2,000 employees. The challenge featured a film explaining the strategy, a values-based quiz, and a digital signing of the commitment statement. Additionally, the "O-sign challenge" encouraged employees to visually express their support by forming the letter "O" with their bodies.

The "O" symbol signifies Ovako, zero accidents, zero emissions, and circularity, alongside openness to change, optimism, and ownership of the transition. Thousands of photos featuring the "O-sign" are being shared internally and externally, making the company's values tangible.

With the public launch of the theovakoway.com platform, Ovako plans to share its journey and actions with customers, partners, and industry peers. The company stresses that "The Ovako Way" is a living commitment integrated at all levels, driving the creation of steel for a better and safer future.
