Ovako launches new EPD tool for steel environmental data

Steel producer Ovako has launched a new digital Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) tool, described as the first of its kind. The tool is designed to significantly speed up the collection and calculation of environmental data for steel throughout its lifecycle.

The new system utilizes automated calculations, reducing the time spent on manual work from months to minutes. Bureau Veritas has independently pre-verified the platform, enabling product-specific environmental data across the steel's lifecycle to be generated faster than before.

The introduction of this tool addresses increasing customer demands for transparency. Buyers, regulators, and public procurement processes are placing greater emphasis on environmental impact reporting within the steel industry.
