Over 1.5 Million Pounds of Meat Recalled Due to Temperature Abuse

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Saturday that Kayem Foods Inc. has initiated a voluntary recall.

The recall involves more than 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products that may have experienced "temperature abuse during storage." The issue was identified after a retail customer complained about warm product temperatures. Investigations revealed that one of the company's warehouse coolers had experienced "temperature deviations."

"Temperature abuse" in this context means that product temperatures deviated from their intended storage levels, potentially rendering them unsafe for consumption. The affected products were produced between approximately March 31 and October 7, 2026, and shipped between June 7 and October 14, 2026.

The recall spans products under nine different brands, including sausages, chicken, pork, and bacon items. FSIS has published a list of the identified products and packaging photos on its website. The recalled items were shipped to retail and foodservice locations nationwide and in Hong Kong.

To date, there have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the recalled products. Consumers are urged to check their refrigerators and dispose of or return any affected items to the place of purchase. Further inquiries can be directed to Kayem Foods customer service.
