Olathe, Kansas โ October 14, 2026 โ Garmin announced today that over 2,500 aircraft are now equipped with its Autoland system. This significant milestone was achieved just over six years after the technology's initial certification.
The Autoland system is available on more than 15 aircraft models, including piston-powered aircraft and twin-engine jets. It is designed to activate in an emergency situation, such as pilot incapacitation, and can guide the aircraft to a safe landing without intervention from the crew or passengers.
The technology has received recognition, including the prestigious Robert J. Collier Trophy, and its adoption has expanded significantly from general aviation to business jets. According to Garmin, nearly 250 systems were retrofitted onto aircraft not originally equipped, demonstrating its adaptability to older models.
Garmin continues to collaborate with aircraft manufacturers and operators to expand the availability of the Autoland system. The company has focused on innovating safety-enhancing solutions for the aviation industry, and the growth of Autoland is part of this strategy.
