Over 5.1 Lakh Complaints Filed Against E-commerce Platforms In India During 2025
India's National Consumer Helpline registered over 510,000 complaints against e-commerce and quick commerce platforms in 2025, a nearly 14% increase from the previous year. Non-delivery and wrong product deliveries were the most common issues.

India's National Consumer Helpline (NCH) recorded over 510,000 complaints against e-commerce and quick commerce platforms in 2025, marking a significant 14% rise from the 440,000 complaints filed in 2024. The government shared these figures with Parliament, highlighting a growing trend in consumer grievances within the online retail sector.
Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, BL Verma, stated in the Lok Sabha that Flipkart received the highest number of complaints at 130,000, followed by Amazon with 91,248 and Meesho with 29,284. Other platforms like Myntra, Netmeds, Zepto, and Blinkit also faced a substantial number of consumer complaints.
The primary reasons cited for the complaints included non-delivery of products (79,818 cases) and delivery of incorrect items (75,426). Consumers also reported issues with product replacements, refunds, and the receipt of defective or damaged goods, with 61,056 and 60,969 complaints respectively related to these concerns.
Verma confirmed that all complaints received by the NCH in 2025 have been addressed. Under India's Consumer Protection Act, 2019, e-commerce entities are mandated to appoint a grievance officer who must acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within a month. The NCH has facilitated refunds totaling approximately ₹91 crore for consumers between April 2025 and June 2026.
