Overcooked Developer's New Game Stage Fright Coming to PC Next Spring

Ghost Town Games, the studio behind the popular Overcooked franchise, has announced its latest game, Stage Fright, is set to release on PC via Steam in spring 2025. The game is also scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch 2 within the same year.

Stage Fright, which was first revealed at The Game Awards 2024, is a cooperative adventure game centered around two players. Players will navigate a peculiar town, solving escape room-style puzzles, overcoming strange obstacles, and uncovering secrets.

The development team aims to recapture the nostalgic "couch co-op" experience of playing together at home, a hallmark of Overcooked, while transitioning players from the kitchen setting to a more immersive adventure. The game will maintain an accessible, "one-button" control scheme.

The narrative unfolds in a mysterious town populated by eccentric characters. The core gameplay requires two players to collaborate, using their wits and teamwork to solve puzzles and face quirky challenges. Inspirations for the game reportedly include films like The Goonies and the TV series Stranger Things, with a nod to the Luigi's Mansion series.

Stage Fright prioritizes communication and cooperation over fast reflexes. Players will need to rely on each other's intellect and coordination to progress through the game's challenges, with the PC release expected next spring.
