Overstory and Fulcrum Partner to Enable Closed-Loop Risk Mitigation for Utilities
A new integration connects risk-based planning with verified field work, enabling utilities to demonstrate the impact of their risk mitigation efforts and target future investments.
Overstory, a risk intelligence platform for utilities, and Fulcrum, a field service management platform, have announced a partnership aimed at providing utilities with verifiable proof of how their risk mitigation efforts have reduced risks. The integration links Overstory's risk prioritization models with Fulcrum's data from field operations, inspections, and completions, creating a unified workflow from planning to verifying outcomes.
The collaboration allows the platforms to connect initial risk assessments with investment decisions, completed field work, and verified results. The gathered information is then used to inform future actions. In North America, vegetation is a major cause of power outages and wildfires. Utilities spend an estimated $8 billion annually on vegetation management, and regulators are increasingly demanding proof of mitigation effectiveness. This new integration aims to bridge that information gap by connecting risks with executed work and verified conditions.
Overstory helps utilities identify risks related to vegetation, wildfires, and equipment, and to plan investments based on these factors. Fulcrum, in turn, manages field operations and provides tools for planning, execution, and quality assurance. By combining the two platforms, utilities can answer three key questions: what risks exist today, how much risk has been reduced, and where should the next actions be focused?
Fiona Spruill, CEO of Overstory, highlighted the need for integrated systems to prove the impact of work. Jim Grady, CEO of Fulcrum, added that the integration guides field teams and ensures the collection of verifiable data demonstrating risk reduction. The partnership is now available to all utilities using Overstory or Fulcrum.
