Pharmaceutical research company Oxcia has appointed Dr. Sandra Ekstedt as its new Director of Preclinical Research. This appointment is seen as a strategic move to advance the company's efforts in developing treatments for respiratory diseases.
Dr. Ekstedt possesses over a decade of scientific expertise in the field of respiratory disease research. She holds a PhD from the Department of Clinical Science Intervention and Technology at Karolinska Institutet. Her research has primarily focused on the mechanisms that drive the progression and severity of chronic lung diseases.
Her previous research contributions have enhanced the understanding of inflammation, airway hyper-responsiveness, tissue damage, and disease progression in respiratory disorders. Dr. Ekstedt has also played a role in improving preclinical models for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
In her new capacity at Oxcia, Dr. Ekstedt is expected to lead the strategic development of preclinical research and support the company's drug development programs in the respiratory disease sector.
