Pacific West Roofing Donates New Roof to North Portland Family

Pacific West Roofing has collaborated with nonprofit Catalyst Partnerships NW and Malarkey Roofing Products to provide a complete roof replacement for a North Portland family, free of charge to the homeowners. The project addressed urgent structural needs for a family living on a limited income.

The homeowners, residents for over 20 years, faced escalating home repair costs. Deterioration of the roof reached a critical point, leading to the cancellation of their homeowner's insurance policy due to the property's condition.

Catalyst Partnerships NW identified the roof's end-of-life status and the need for a full replacement, which exceeded typical volunteer capabilities. They approached Pacific West Roofing, which committed to donating labor, equipment, and disposal services. Malarkey Roofing Products supplied the roofing shingles, and Catalyst Partnerships NW provided plywood sheathing, vents, and metal components.

The project involved removing the old roofing system, installing new plywood, and applying the donated Malarkey shingles. The new roof restored the home's protection, enhanced its appearance, and re-enabled the family to secure homeowner's insurance.

"This project reflects what it means to be part of the Portland community," said Brian Jarvis, co-owner of Pacific West Roofing. "When a local family needs help, we believe local businesses should step up. Pacific West Roofing is grateful to partner with Catalyst and Malarkey to give the Williams family a safe, reliable roof and greater peace of mind."
