Panasonic Industry Enhances Short Circuit Testing for HE Relays in EV Charging
Panasonic Industry Europe has launched new HE-R and HE-S relays with enhanced short circuit testing for electric vehicle charging applications. The new relays meet stringent safety standards.
Panasonic Industry Europe has introduced its latest HE-R and HE-S relays, designed to improve safety and reliability in electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment. The development of these new relays focused on enhancing short-circuit withstand capability and meeting international standards, including IEC62955.
The HE-R relay has undergone a 10kA short-circuit test, enabling the specification of 22kW wallboxes for up to 32A at 10kA short-circuit current. This offers a higher level of protection for EV charging equipment. The smaller HE-S relay, meanwhile, conforms to the IEC62955 standard for 3kA short circuits, making it suitable for 16A wallboxes and increasing flexibility in equipment selection.
Bernd Jaschinski, Product Manager at Panasonic Industry, stated that the VDE extensions for the HE-R and HE-S relays provide customers with an enhanced short-circuit testing solution. "Our customers in the EV charging industry require reliable and safe components," Jaschinski said. "Both the HE-R and HE-S relays meet these requirements, delivering a high level of protection and flexibility."
Panasonic Industry expects the new relays to play a significant role in the next generation of EV charging equipment, assuring manufacturers of component performance and safety.
