Panasonic Industry Europe launches new Amorton indoor solar cells

Panasonic Industry Europe has released its latest Amorton indoor solar cell series, comprising the AMG-1401C and AMG-1701C models. These new cells feature a nearly perfect black, reflective surface and offer a 20% improvement in efficiency compared to previous generations.

The efficiency gains stem from an optimized production process that has increased the active area. This positions the new AMG series as one of the most efficient amorphous solar cells for indoor environments available today. The cells, built on glass substrates, are 1.1mm thin and generate approximately 8 µW/cm² at 200 lux per active area.

With external dimensions of 41.4mm x 26.1mm, the AMG-1401C model produces a maximum of 77.8 µW under 200 lux illumination. The 2.2V cell voltage allows for compatibility with many common power management ICs.

According to Panasonic, the new Amorton cells are suitable for diverse energy harvesting applications such as IoT devices, watches, and remote controls. They can also be manufactured with custom specifications, including transparent surfaces for integration behind displays.
