Panasonic Industry releases miniature PhotoMOS® relay for test equipment
Panasonic Industry Europe has introduced a new PhotoMOS® relay in a miniature WSSOP package for measurement, testing, and medical equipment. The AQY231R1WY model offers a smaller footprint and enhanced performance.

Panasonic Industry Europe has launched the AQY231R1WY, a new PhotoMOS® relay housed in a compact WSSOP (Very Small Outline Surface Package). This component is designed for use in measurement, test, and medical equipment, including semiconductor testers, circuit board testers, and medical imaging devices.
The new relay is part of the company's Low CxR PhotoMOS® series, featuring an optimized, very low product of the output MOSFETs' capacitance and resistance (C×R). This design aims to improve performance and energy efficiency in various applications. The initial model in this series operates at 40V and 350mA.
The miniature WSSOP package reduces the required mounting area by 89% compared to conventional relay models. This contributes to smaller and more cost-effective equipment designs. The relay is rated for operation at a maximum ambient temperature of +125°C, a notable increase from the +85°C limit of many standard relays.
Chaithra Bhat Beedubail, Product Manager at Panasonic Industry Europe, stated, "With the new PhotoMOS relay, we have developed a product for our customers that offers a unique, miniature design without compromising performance." She highlighted the relay's suitability for test equipment, measurement instruments, and medical applications.
This new product addresses the growing demand for miniaturized and efficient components, particularly within the electronics industry where size reduction and energy efficiency are increasingly critical factors.
