Panasonic Launches Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 Module
Panasonic Industry Europe has introduced the PAN9028 module, combining dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 connectivity. The module supports high data rates and low-power operation.

Panasonic Industry Europe has released the PAN9028 module, integrating dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 capabilities. The new component aims to expedite product development cycles and reduce costs through efficient, embedded solutions.
The module utilizes the NXP Semiconductors 88W8987 wireless chipset and supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies under the 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi standard, alongside Bluetooth BR/EDR/Low Energy functionality. "The 802.11ac capable, simultaneous and independent operation of the two standards enables high data throughput and low-power operation," stated Tomislav Tipura from Panasonic Industry Europe.
PAN9028 offers download data rates of up to 433 Mbit/s. An optional power management IC can simplify hardware design and lower Bill of Materials costs. Calibration data for CE RED, FCC, and ISED regions are pre-stored on the module, allowing for a single part number across these geographies and potentially reducing time-to-market.
The module includes security features compliant with IEEE 802.11i, such as AES cryptography. Panasonic Industry Europe suggests that the PAN9028 can assist manufacturers in minimizing design, testing, calibration, and certification efforts.
