Paralympic medalist Mohamed Lahna has arrived in Las Vegas after completing the 3,000-mile cycling leg of his historic 250 Triathlon Across America. He arrived three days ahead of schedule in his bid to become the first athlete with a prosthesis to complete a cross-country triathlon of this magnitude.
Lahna began the challenge with a 28.5-mile swim around Manhattan Island in June. He then cycled from New York City to Las Vegas, traversing 16 states and accumulating over 100,000 feet in elevation gain. He is now embarking on the final 350-mile run to Venice Beach, California, with a target finish date of July 29.
Throughout the transcontinental journey, Lahna has been raising funds for Save the Children and the Challenged Athletes Foundation, two organizations integral to his life. He has already raised more than $80,000 towards his $250,000 goal. Lahna expressed pride in completing the cycling segment and hopes it will inspire further support for these charities.
A three-time Paralympian, Lahna won silver for Team USA at the Paris 2024 Games and bronze for Morocco at the Rio 2016 Games. He is currently preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, where he aims for a gold medal.
