Paramount Cruises Compares Norwegian Coastal Voyages: Havila vs. Hurtigruten
Paramount Cruises has released a comparison of Norwegian coastal cruise lines, Havila Voyages and Hurtigruten. Compare ships, dining, inclusions, and sustainability in detail.

Travel company Paramount Cruises has issued a detailed comparison between two Norwegian coastal cruise operators, Havila Voyages and Hurtigruten. The analysis aims to clarify the distinct differences between the two to help travelers choose the most suitable option for Norway's historic coastal route.
While both companies operate the Bergen to Kirkenes route and serve the same ports, Paramount Cruises highlights significant variations in the passenger experience. Havila features four newer sister ships, emphasizing a consistent, modern design and advanced environmental technology, including battery power. In contrast, Hurtigruten leverages over 130 years of coastal heritage and offers a more diverse fleet where individual ships possess unique characteristics.
The comparison notes that Havila's four vessels—Havila Capella, Havila Castor, Havila Polaris, and Havila Pollux—share a common Scandinavian design, large windows, and contemporary amenities. All cabins offer sea views, and public spaces are oriented towards the surrounding landscapes. Hurtigruten's fleet of seven Original Coastal Express ships, however, spans different eras, imbuing them with individual personalities and a sense of maritime history, though resulting in less uniformity.
Paramount Cruises clarifies that this comparison focuses on Hurtigruten's Original Coastal Express service, which functions as a scheduled transport link. Hurtigruten's Signature voyages, characterized by longer port stays and more inclusive onboard experiences, are excluded from this direct comparison. By detailing these differences, the company seeks to guide travelers in making a more informed decision based on cruise content, comfort, and onboard atmosphere.
