Puerto Rico serves as a popular departure port for Caribbean cruises. Its capital, San Juan, is known for its rich Spanish heritage, historic Old Town, and nearby beaches. The cruise season from Puerto Rico typically runs from November through April, offering passengers an escape from winter weather.

Several cruise lines operate out of San Juan. Norwegian Cruise Line is positioning its new ship, Norwegian Viva, for Caribbean itineraries, while Virgin Voyages will launch its vessel Brilliant Lady for Southern Caribbean sailings.
