Paris Court Ruling on Obsolete Design Element Has Minimal Impact on Angelalign's European Customers

Angelalign Technology Inc. (6699.HK) announced on October 18, 2026, that a ruling by the Paris Local Division of the Unified Patent Court concerning the obsolete "Torque Ridges" design element will not affect the availability of its products in Europe. The company has already replaced this element with an upgraded system known as "Pressure Points" in the European market.

Angelalign ceased the use of "Torque Ridges" in Europe in September, introducing "Pressure Points," which is designed to enhance tooth torque control. The ruling does not impact Angelalign's customers in Spain, the UK, the Americas, or Asia. The company is currently reviewing the court's decision.

The local court determined that the "Torque Ridges" element infringed upon a patent held by Align Technology Inc. Angelalign disagrees with the ruling and is evaluating its options. The company will comply with the court's decision, which may include product returns.

"Our priority is to ensure orthodontists have the necessary tools to continue providing excellent care to their patients," said Xavier Cherbavaz, Angelalign's CEO for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. "'Torque Ridges' is no longer in use in Europe and has been replaced by 'Pressure Points,' which is designed to support controlled force application and tooth contact."
