Parts of Chalmers' MC2 and Physics buildings to be temporarily closed

Chalmers University of Technology has announced temporary closures affecting parts of its MC2 and Physics buildings, as well as surrounding outdoor areas on its Gothenburg campus, scheduled for Tuesday, October 21. The closures will impact both interior access and exterior pathways.

Internally, sections of Canyon, including corridors on floors 3 and 4, all connecting walkways, and elevators and stairwells adjacent to the main entrance and towards Canyon's center, will be closed between 13:00 and 16:30. Alternative access routes are provided. Access to the Physics building can be gained via the connecting walkway on floor 7, and to the MC2 building via the entrance on the building's north side. Internal movement within buildings should utilize stairwells not connecting to Canyon.

Outdoor closures will affect Kemivägen, the slope between the MC2 building/Physics building and Kemihuset, and Fysikgränd. These areas will also be inaccessible during the same period, from 13:00 to 16:30. Parking for cars and bicycles within a designated area will be completely closed for the entire day of October 21. All vehicles and bicycles must be removed from the area by the evening of October 20 at the latest.

The reason for these specific closures was not detailed in the announcement. In emergency situations, such as a fire alarm or evacuation, standard evacuation routes may be used. The university has also recently updated its website with a new visual identity and is progressively adding content and features.
