PATEO and Arm sign strategic agreement to advance physical AI innovation
Automotive supplier PATEO and technology firm Arm have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop solutions for physical artificial intelligence, with a focus on the automotive sector.
Shanghai – Automotive supplier PATEO has entered into a strategic memorandum of understanding with Arm, a global leader in computing platforms. The collaboration aims to accelerate innovation in physical artificial intelligence (Physical AI), with a particular focus on developing next-generation AI workloads for the automotive industry.
Physical AI enables intelligent agents to perceive, interact with, and operate within the physical world in real-time. The automotive sector is identified as a key application area, with vehicles acting as intelligent mobile terminals that integrate sensors, computing, and connectivity. PATEO notes that AI workloads in vehicles are expanding beyond traditional functions like voice assistants and infotainment to encompass more sophisticated scenarios, including real-time interaction and advanced perception.
This evolution places increased demands on underlying computing platforms. Beyond high computational power, these platforms require low power consumption, real-time responsiveness, and high reliability and functional safety. Achieving this necessitates close collaboration across IP, chip, operating system, and application domains.
PATEO, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (02889.HK), specializes in intelligent cockpit and connected vehicle technologies. Arm brings its expertise in computing platforms and a broad industry ecosystem. The partnership is expected to enhance innovation in intelligent vehicles and Physical AI for both companies.
According to PATEO, its AI business generated approximately 209 million RMB in revenue in the first half of 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of 588.6%. This growth signals a shift from AI pilot phases to large-scale deployment.
