Patria 6x6 CAVS Programme for Germany Advances with New Partnerships
Patria, DSL, and FFG have joined forces for Germany's CAVS programme, aiming to produce Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles locally within Germany for the German armed forces.
Finnish defence company Patria, along with German firms DSL and FFG, have announced a collaboration to offer variants of the Patria 6x6 armoured personnel carrier for the German armed forces under the Common Armoured Vehicles System (CAVS) programme. Patria will serve as the prime contractor if Germany proceeds with the procurement.
The agreement designates Patria to lead the design and development of the system. Local engineering, production, and life-cycle support in Germany will be handled by DSL and FFG. The partnership intends to engage other German companies in the program's efforts.
Germany officially joined the CAVS programme, an initiative for developing state-of-the-art 6x6 armoured vehicles, in April 2023. The Patria 6x6 platform was selected in 2019, noted for its modularity, protection, and mobility.
This collaboration aims to combine German and Finnish engineering and manufacturing expertise, creating local jobs and leveraging German industrial capabilities for future defence vehicle development and sustainment.
